What is Dry Hair?
When your scalp doesn't make enough oil to moisturise your hair, or doesn’t effectively retain its moisture, it leads to dry, dull, brittle hair. Dry hair can be hard to manage, and can look frizzy and lacklustre.
How To Treat Dry Hair
There are certain steps you can take to help alleviate dry hair:
- Cut down on heat styling
- Take your vitamins alongside having a healthy diet
- Avoid over washing your hair
- Use sulphate-free shampoo
- Protect your hair when poolside
- Use an SPF for your hair
- Use a weekly treatment for deep nourishment
Colour-Treated Hair
Colour-treated hair is classed as any hair that has been given any permanent hair colour treatment. From all-over colour to lowlights, and balayage to highlights, colour-treated hair needs specialist care to prolong the colour, and keep your hair hydrated, healthy and soft.
How To Make Your Colour Last Longer
Colour-treated hair tends to be a little drier, so it's important to use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner that helps to lock in hydration.
There are also a few ingredients that you should look to avoid, such as sulphates, which give shampoo a lather, but tend to remove too much oil from the scalp which leads to added dryness. You should also avoid SLS, petrochemicals, and sodium chloride.
To deeply hydrate your hair and keep your colour looking fresh and shiny, nourish your tresses with a weekly treatment mask. Also, avoid excessive heat styling, and ensure to protect your hair whilst out in the sun.
What causes dandruff?
Dandruff is a common condition that causes the skin on your scalp to flake off. Additionally, it can make your scalp feel quite itchy. The most common cause of dandruff is dry skin, although it can also be caused by medical conditions, allergies, a build-up of excess oil, or even a yeast infection.
Mild dandruff can often be treated with a gentle, hydrating shampoo, but more severe cases may require specialist products like medicated shampoos. Dandruff can be bothersome and is often described as embarrassing, but with our specialist, professional line of products, your scalp will be feeling healthy and soothed in no time.
3 steps for itchy scalp relief:
1. Use a weekly scrub
Gently exfoliate and soothe your itchy scalp whilst removing excess oil build-up
2. Use specialist shampoo and conditioner
Select formulas specially for anti-dandruff to purify, soothe and nourish your scalp and hair
3. Take your vitamins
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) hydrates your scalp whilst helping to strengthen your hair
Oily Scalp
Healthy hair naturally produces sebum that keeps your scalp and hair hydrated, but sometimes this can build up and cause overly-oily hair, especially at the root.
There are many reasons why this happens - sometimes it can be caused by over-washing or under-washing your hair, your hair type (straighter, finer hair is more prone to oiliness), the products you use, and even your lifestyle.
To Treat An Oily Scalp
By using a purifying shampoo, you can help to alleviate your oily scalp and add more volume to your hair Ingredients like Zinc PCA help to mitigate the appearance of excess sebum, where Piroctone Olamine decreases sebum output and lessens dandruff, too. Hydrolysed Wheat Protein is also a helpful ingredient - repairing and restructuring, it helps to smooth your hair and leaves behind a protective film that guards against the daily stresses that your hair experiences.
