How To Avoid Bad Skin Days

How To Avoid Bad Skin Days

We've all had them. Those days when you wake up, look in the mirror and just know it's going to be a bad skin day. Your skincare miracles seem to not do their usual magic, your go-to flawless foundation isn't sitting right, and that radiant, fresh-faced look seems a distant memory. Obviously, following a good skin routine will help to keep skin in tip-top condition, but sometimes it can just hit you out of the blue. Or is it as out of the blue as you think? Here are some of the things we do on a daily basis that may just be the cause of those bad skin days.

Do the double cleanse

When you've had a day of heavy make up, there's sometimes no better feeling than washing it all away. However, although skin may look clean, you may not have removed all traces of make up, which will clog the pores and cause the skin to breakout. Avoid waking up to unexpected visitors on your face and do a second cleanse to make sure everything is clear.

Stay hydrated

It can seem like a lot when you're trying to glug it down, but it is recommended that we drink 2-3 litres of water per day. Although you may not feel it, any less than this and your body could actually be dehydrated. When our body needs some extra water, it begins to take it from the places that it feels require it the least, and guess where one of the first places is? Your skin. Without water, our skin begins to look dull, sallow and lines and wrinkles can appear more prominent. So, keep a bottle of water on your desk and sip throughout the day to keep skin healthy and hydrated.

Get your beauty sleep

With our hectic schedules (not to mention a serious Netflix addiction), getting the recommended 8 hours a night can be tricky. This figure isn't there for no reason and it's important that we get enough sleep every night to allow the cells in our body “ skin cells included “ to repair and rejuvenate. They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing!Obviously, nothing can do your skin good like sticking to a routine that's right for you, but these daily tips will help to minimise the risk of those bad skin days occurring.
